Schulman Bhattacharya is proud to announce the hiring of a new associate attorney who will be resident in the Firm’s Washington-area headquarters office. Akinyi Orinda joins the Firm after spending ten years handling civil litigation for several leading Maryland and Virginia law firms, and serving as a law clerk to Chief Judge Lon E. Farris of the Prince William County Circuit Court. She earned her J.D. from the College of William and Mary School of Law, where she served as Notes Editor and had her work published in the William and Mary Journal of Women and the Law. She received her Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Virginia. Upon completing her degree, Ms. Orinda received the Longevity of Excellence Award from the University of Virginia’s Office of African American Affairs.
Prior to immigrating to the United States, Ms. Orinda lived and travelled extensively throughout Africa. Given her international background, she is accustomed to navigating the unique issues that come with cross-border disputes. During law school, Ms. Orinda interned at a leading Nairobi law firm that represented international clients engaged in business and investment throughout Africa.
