Ms. Schaefer brings with her to Schulman Bhattacharya broad experience representing individuals and commercial clients in civil, criminal and administrative matters. Ms. Schaefer’s clients appreciate her sensible approach, personable nature and grace under pressure.
Ms. Schaefer began her legal career as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Gerald Bruce Lee of the Alexandria Division of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. Following her clerkship, Ms. Schaefer was an Honors Attorney with the Criminal Division of the United States Department of Justice where she received the Assistant Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service. Prior to joining Schulman Bhattacharya, she practiced criminal defense and commercial litigation in private practice.
Ms. Schaefer earned her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law where she was a Public Interest Scholar and Articles Editor for the Journal of Labor and Employment law. Upon graduation she was awarded the Wapner, Newman & Wigrizer Award for Special Promise in Civil Trial Advocacy. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Duke University, with minors in Spanish and Women’s Studies.
During college, Ms. Schaefer studied abroad in Madrid, Spain and has enjoyed opportunities to use her language skills throughout her career. A Montgomery County native, Ms. Schaefer is also a graduate and board member of Leadership Montgomery.
Ms. Schaefer is admitted to practice law in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.
